Latest information on Hokkaido Earthquake September 2018.

I'll introduce the latest news on Hokkaido Earthquake 2018 because there are few latest information available in English.

First, I want to say one thing. You don't have to be  worried. Japanese people are familiar with earthquakes. This this earthquake is relativery less dangerous because there are no tsunami  disasters.

Traffic

All trains and metros can't be used. There are few buses available because traffic signals don't work due to the blackout. As reported, the new Chitose Airport can't be used today.

Recovery of trains and buses(trafficsignals) are depending on recovery of electricity.

As of Sep. 7th 2AM, 25% of electricity has recovered.

They are going to recover 70% of electricity today.

I wish it would make buses or trains available until tomorrow morning.

However, you should be careful when buses or trains are available.

They should be too crowded. It would be very dangerous!

Safety is the first priority.

Electricity

They say the cause of the blackout is deactivation of Tomatouatsuma-thermal-power-station and they are trying to solve the blackout problem using 4 hydroelectric power plants in Hokkaido.

According to NHK, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry(top of METI) orderd to solve the blackout problem in a few hours.

However, it is only an order. It could take more time.

According to the official twitter acount of 北海道電力(Hokkaido Electric Power Co.) , Sunagawa-thermal-power-station has re-started sending electricity, though its power generation capacity is not so much.

According to METI, until tomorrow, 80% of electricity would be recovered.

In case you can't get electricity until tomorrow morning, you should go to NTT docomo's branches.

They provide phone-battery-charging-service until 5PM today.

They should also do the same service tomorrow.

Communications

There is a news which says that,

if the blackout lasts for long, mobile-phone-base-stations would be out of electricity. It's because some mobile-phone-base-stations are now using emergency power supply.

If you become unable to connect to the internet using your phone, that is the cause.
